Getting older means gaining wisdom and being more confident in yourself, but it can also mean having a few extra lines on your face and often feeling like your body doesn't match your youthful spirit. There are plenty of ways we can stave off signs of aging— you have probably heard of Botox and other injection-based fillers that help your skin look more youthful and help get rid of wrinkles. But traditional fillers break down over time, which will cause you to lose that "youthful glow" and give you the need to schedule another appointment. This can be costly and not to mention painful!

Fortunately, there's a new procedure out there called Platelet Rich Plasma Facial (or PRP) that not only reduces visibility of wrinkles, but it also utilizes your natural tissue to heal and restore your skin.

Let's learn more about how it works and how it may benefit you!

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from whole blood, centrifuged to remove red blood cells. Blood is a liquid that contains red and white blood cells, and platelets. Platelets help clot the blood and also contains hundreds of proteins called growth factors important in the healing of injuries. However, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has 5-10 times more platelets than what is typically found in blood.  This high concentration of platelets can potentially regenerate tissue and cartilage.

How Does the Procedure Work?

So how exactly do you get the benefits of PRP to reduce wrinkles?

Here's how it works:

  • At your appointment, your blood is drawn into a test tube and placed in centrifuge for a spin.
  • Low gravitational forces separate the plasma and platelets from the red and white blood cells.  The increased concentration of platelets is then combined with the remaining blood.
  • PRP can be carefully injected into the desired area or inflamed tissue.

What Does PRP Fix?

PRP can fix a variety of issues, including:

  • Deep Wrinkles
  • Dark Rings
  • Acne Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Post Laser Hydration
  • Hair Loss
  • Skin Rejuvenation
